About the Working Group: Generative AI

Goals and Tasks

The ‘Generative AI in Higher Education’ working group undertakes a variety of tasks and aims aligned with the university’s broader educational mandate. This includes, among other aspects, adaptations to academic and examination regulations regarding the use of AI, intended to improve the quality of teaching and support student achievement. It also advocates for the professional development of teaching staff in this area.

In addition, the working group supports the deployment of AI tools adapted to the needs of students and faculty, and advances the development of institutional and inter-institutional infrastructures to foster the digital transformation of higher education. In this sense, it significantly contributes to updating scientific disciplinary cultures to ensure contemporary and future-oriented education.

Additional areas of engagement include the working group’s collaboration with Goethe University—particularly through its active participation in the Future Dialogue and the university’s Teaching Mission—as well as its involvement in disciplinary cluster exchanges, its contribution to the development of the ‘Center for Critical Computational Studies’ (C3S), and its role in project portfolio management under the CIO.

Among other notable initiatives in this context are the HessenHub and the DSB process within the IMPACT project at both state and national levels, as well as the EU AI Act, which represents a key development at the European level.

Cooperation

The TechAcademy aims to provide students with future-relevant IT skills that go beyond the use of office programs. In collaboration with the AG-GKI, they support students in further education on topics related to Artificial Intelligence.

The Center for Critical Computational Studies (C3S) is a center for inter- and transdisciplinary research at Goethe University Frankfurt. To establish and advance Critical Computational Studies, they bring together various disciplines ranging from computer, life, and social sciences to health and humanities.
