On July 14, 2023, the working group held its first kick-off event—initially aimed exclusively at teaching staff—focusing on the changes brought about by AI in the context of higher education. In collaboration with individual departments, the event began with a review of the current state of AI use in teaching, particularly with regard to ChatGPT. This review also considered the differing starting points of instructors, students, and institutions, as these groups vary not only in their use of AI tools but also in their specific needs. With attention to the legal framework, potential challenges and risks, as well as opportunities and possibilities, the next steps for action were defined. These include adapting declarations of originality and examination regulations, as well as developing handouts for students, teaching staff, and examination offices.
